Everyone,
This past week was really really amazing. There were just 3 major parts that stood out from the week, so here it is.
Transfers: So transfers is this Thursday. It is crazy how 6 weeks with Elder Chojnacki has already flown by really, really quickly. It is has been great and I've grown a lot being with him. But change must happen and this change is pretty exciting. I have been called as a trainer, so I will be training a brand new missionary coming out into the field. I don't know who it is yet, but he'll be arriving to the field this Thursday. It will be my second time training and I'll be staying in this area, in the Lincoln Stake in this Zone. Last Friday I went to a meeting with all of the missionaries that will be training in this next transfer, and it was wonderful. One of the best things from that meeting was the instruction given by Elder Taylor, about the importance of helping the new missionary understand that they are a representative and a disciple of Jesus Christ. It should be quite a lot of fun, especially since I am still learning the area and the members, so it should be interesting. My current companion Elder Chojnacki will be going to Rigby. It's been fun, but transfers have come up again. I'm super excited and know that we will see miracles in this area. So my address is staying the same, but what happens definitely will change. I'll be giving an update on who he is next week on P-day.
Saturday Meeting: So this past Saturday we met at one of the stake centers in Idaho Falls and were taught by Elder Sexton, an Area Seventy, Elder L. Whitney Clayton, Senior President of the Presidency of the Seventy, and Elder M. Russell Ballard, Member of the Quorum of the Twelve. It was amazing. The major thing, other than instructions for us to take away as missionaries, was the commitment, the dedication, and the faith that these people have. When Elder Ballard bore his testimony and left us with a blessing, the spirit was very very strong. It reaffirmed my own testimony that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that Joseph Smith was a Prophet, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Savior's Church on the earth today. They taught us to be obedient, to work hard, to throw our hearts into the work, and to be bold with the truth that we have. It was an amazing meeting.
Work of Salvation: So this past week we saw some good progress on Hastening the Work of Salvation. We had the High Priest Group Leader in one of our wards go and set up an appointment with a less active member of the ward, and took us and invited the man to meet with us, be taught, and come back to activity. The main accepted the invitation and it was amazing. The Elders Quorum Presidencies in each of our wards are going strong with it too, and others are starting to see the vision. For each member that is reading this, you can know how to share the gospel, how to fulfill your calling, by going to this Website. https://www.lds.org/training/wwlt/2013/hastening/members-and-missionaries?lang=eng . This is the program that God has given us to share the gospel, and it has been what all of the promises of the progression of the work has been focused in.
Thank you for all of your support. I pray that everyone in Florida and Georgia, and those in other states and countries, are staying safe and strong during these natural disasters.
Love,
Elder Baker
