A dog that does bite

This week was super eventful. one of the main things was the sudden drop in temperature. It went down from 90's to 40's in about 2 days, so my reacted badly at first but I am not acclimating. Winter is starting again, which means thermals, coats, long sleeve shirts, wool socks, boots, gloves, hats, and hand warmers. Here's some of the highlights from the week.

A Dog: So we had quite a few appointments fall through on Wednesday night, so we went to our  back up plans and tried this home of LA's in Fallsbrook. I had talked to him before and he was open for us coming back, so we went and tried his house. We went through the gate and knocked on the door and waited about a minute or two. It was then that we heard some barking coming from around the trailer, and from my years of life, I've learned when it sounds like a dog that will actually attack you. Elder Wheelock told me later that he was just thinking, we can stay and it will calm down, but I gave him the look and we ran to the gate and got past it just in time. The man, Nick, came out and we had a good talk. We asked him and turns out that if we are past the gate, then the dog would bite us. There's the spirit taking over. It was so scary, but he was super nice. We're going to come back to help, but next time just knock on the window. That was the first dog that almost bit me in my mission, haha. Fun story for the week.

Reaching Out With Love: So our Ward Mission Leader is back in the Lincoln 2nd Ward. Since even before I got here, one of our Ward Mission Leaders wasn't even here. He had got a job cutting corn mazes around the USA. In my first 6 weeks in the area, I met him once, but now he's back. (He even cut Uncle Shuck's for all of us Georgia People) We met with him and discussed the ward and the work and the direction that we need to take. After discussing we prayed to receive confirmation and we felt right about it. We are going to help the members honestly be more neighborly to start out with. That is the most basic form of Missionary Work there is. Then sharing the gospel will come naturally and prompted by the spirit. Look at these two things for each of you as well :). Sunday Afternoon: So this Sunday afternoon had a miracle. We had our 1 o clock appointment fall through with one of our families who have the most potential. The De Leon family we found a few weeks ago. We had a couple from the branch, and we had a referral we received on Saturday and so we went with them to contact the referral. We met her (the women the referral was for), and she told us to come back in an hour. So we did, and taught her the Restoration. She is pretty promising. She wants to be a better Mother and understands the need to have a Prophet on the earth today that can be the mouthpiece for God in our day, to help us with our struggles. It was a good day.

Pictures: I'm just not good with pictures, it's true. Maybe this next week.

Hope everyone will have a good week and send me an email or two for me to read next Monday. Things are going great, and the work is picking up. Stay strong in the Faith and keep on being yourselves.

And here's a scripture that I really liked in this past week.
I'll be sure to include a study point again next week, forgotten for the past while. this is in the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 26.

24 He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation.

25 Behold, doth he cry unto any, saying: Depart from me? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; but he saith: Come unto me all ye ends of the earth, buy milk and honey, without money and without price.

26 Behold, hath he commanded any that they should depart out of the synagogues, or out of the houses of worship? Behold, I say unto you, Nay.

27 Hath he commanded any that they should not partake of his salvation? Behold I say unto you, Nay; but he hath given it free for all men; and he hath commanded his people that they should persuade all men to repentance.

28 Behold, hath the Lord commanded any that they should not partake of his goodness? Behold I say unto you, Nay; but all men are privileged the one like unto the other, and none are forbidden.
