Hello
This week has been up and down, and has been very weird because of the Holiday time of Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving: This one the main day of the week and it was very interesting. The day before and after Thanksgiving were very slow. Almost no one was actually home for the holiday and some of our appointments fell through. But the day of thanksgiving was a service day/p-day. We started off with waking up and getting over to St. Anthony at 8:00 to serve others! It was a free thanksgiving dinner event and we got there for the setup. People from the area brought about 20 turkeys and 1 or two hams. Along with the stuffing, jello, pie, turkey, ham, corn, and rolls, it was a feast for anyone who stopped by. A lot of people came over the hours and it was great to see people enjoying the holiday with family and not having to spend too much food. We worked until about 1:30 and headed back to Rexburg. Right after we changed we headed over to someone in Rexburg to have thanksgiving dinner at 2. It was my great aunt and Uncle Fred and Wanda Scoresby. They had called the week before and talked about it and we got permission, so we ate there. It was a good meal and the only meal we had that day set, where usually missionaries on thanksgiving have many meals and get a little bit too much food. After dinner it was around 5 o'clock and it was the time of the start of the P-Day. Because we weren't supposed to bother people with their families, we had a zone activity. We went to one of the buildings and played volleyball, soccer, and card games until about 9. With the amount of food eaten, directly followed by about 3 hours of straight sports, it was nice to get a good night's rest.
Baptism: Last Saturday was the Baptism of Abhi!!!!! (picture below) The ordinance was at 11:00 in the morning, and incidentally at the same time of a funeral for the same ward. As we put it many times over the next two days, it was both the beginning and end of the plan of salvation. It was a wonderful service, with 2 musical numbers, testimonies written down right after the baptism, and a HUGE presence of the Spirit. He then got confirmed the next day during sacrament meeting. I am very excited for the change he has made in his life over the past couple of weeks and that in one year, he will be able to go through the temple and be sealed with his wife for time and all eternity!
#LighttheWorld: If you have or haven't heard of it, this is the Christmas message that the Church has released for this Holiday Season. It all started on the 25th, a couple of days ago. There is the annual Christmas video, which is wonderful this year. It is all about two different scriptures.
I am the light of the world- John 8:12 (and) Ye are the light of the world- Matthew 5:14
The video and the whole program is following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ. He served innumerable amounts of people, just in his mortal ministry, and we can do the same every day, and receive a little help to do so during this Christmas season. The website Mormon.org has an advent calendar for the 1st of December, all the way until the 25th. Each day is something that Christ did and how we can follow that example. It is inclusive of all faiths and of all people, and so it is a great missionary opportunity. If you haven't already looked at it, here is the link. The video is in a ton of languages and the advent calendar is available in Portuguese, Espanol, and English. Just do it, you will become more Christlike and become more like him during this season as you follow his example.
Moroni 10:32
32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.
Snow: IT SNOWED, and its the most snow I've ever seen. more than anything in Georgia. I have pictures, and what need i say more.
Study: This week was the end of the Book of Mormon reading for the mission and tonight, is the night that the whole mission will take Moroni's promise and ask if this is not true. We invite people everyday to do the same and everyone who reads this can do the same as we are. Read the Book of Mormon, pray to know if it is true, and you will receive an answer.
3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
