The snow, hasn't stopped.

Last week, as you all may remember, i freaked out over my email about all of the snow that i was receiving out here in Rexburg, ID. Well............. it hasn't gone away. It hasn't snowed many times since, but its always been cold and so the snow never went away, it froze, and just stayed there. It's great, but i hope that I'll still love the snow by the end of this Christmas season and the winter, which lasts until March or April.

Exchanges: This past Wednesday was exchanges with the Zone Leaders, woo woo! So this was my first time fully leading out the area because the other times it was a ward mission day and it was mostly planned out for us to go and do things. Well, it went very well. I learned a lot and we also got to see Peighton to go to the family history center and do genealogy work for her to take a name to the temple to do baptisms for the dead. After that we had BLT's for dinner at a members house and went over to Gibbs. They were speaking Spanish, and as i have learned, Tagalog is very similar to Spanish in the way it is spoken, but not in the spelling of it. So while we had the Obispo there, and we introducing them and having a great time, Elder Galang was in the background laughing emphatically. It was a fun day full of laughs and bad drivers on the road.

Zone Training Meeting: Zone Training Meeting was wonderful this week. One of the things that i like the most was actually from the Zone Leader I went on exchanges with. He talked about personal conversion and how important it in for the work that we are trying to do, having other be converted to the Gospel. After the training was over, we had hot chocolate and snacks, and then found out we needed to get snow tires. We went and got lunch, then found out that the doctor i was supposed to have an appointment with wasn't on call or in town, and then we had food and finished off the snacks. Then we had to go and drop off our truck and go on splits with the Zone Leaders while we waited for the truck to get its tires changed out. Then we went back to Rexburg, and barely got back in time for dinner. Fun day and a lot of
things that i learned, some of which is part of the Study section later on down in the email.

Spanish Ward Party: On Saturday night was the Spanish Ward's Christmas party and it was AWESOME!!!!! It started 45 minutes late, because everyone arrived late (Mormon Standard Time, plus the fact that Latinos aren't the people to arrive early) we taught a lesson to Ray in the chapel, who was there at the party too (he is also getting baptized in Chihuahua on the 17th). For the food provided at the party they served tostadas with Chicken, beans, lettuce, sour cream, and salsa. It was awesome. After that those that were participating in the play lined up in the back room. My companion and I were the angels and were dressed in our baptismal clothing (just realized i didn't take any pictures of the party in the slightest, my bad). The show was a lot of things that didn't really go as planned out, but was hilarious. When the narrator skipped some lines and said that the Angel Gabriel (who was changing into other clothes because his role was done) appeared to Shepards in the field and our part was stolen from us. So the narrator just went right on ahead and said something along the lines of "well, in the scriptures when the angel came to the Shepards , he said this:...." It was awesome. Then we as 3 angels, who didn't practice this before hand, sand the chorus to Far Far away in Judea's Plain, we started and stayed in 3 different keys and what sounded like 3 different languages. the rest of the show was funny and enjoyable and made the week a great one.

#iluminaelmundo: This program has been way more effective in Missionary Work than anyone would have thought. We have stopped by a lot of the potential investigators that we know about, or investigators that haven't been very opening to learning any thing before this time, and were able to share this Christmas message. It has a very powerful spirit to it and it even transitioned into a lesson on the Restoration of the Church for one of the people we shared the message with. The up and coming days for this week are amazing and give all the opportunity through this Christmas season not only to remember Christ and what he did, but learn what he did and who he was by experience, and by so doing becoming a little bit more Christlike. Everyone should do this because it is the best thing anyone can do to bless their lives in the upcoming 3 weeks.

Cocoa Lodge: There is a shack that sells hot chocolate and it has been amazing. That is all there is to say about it. I almost have my card filled up to get a free drink, hehe.

Study: Something that I have come to decide and learn was how i want the rest of my mission to go, pretty much. From Elder Galang, and from the Zone Training Meeting, i learned that to be the best missionary that I can be i must study well and live what i study. Each and every day I will study the true word of God the Book of Mormon, Chapter 3 in Preach My Gospel (which contains all of the lessons that we teach as missionaries and has profound doctrine laid out simply and powerfully), and the other chapters in Preach My Gospel. The two that i fill be focusing on over the next couple of months will be Chapter 6 and 10. Chapter 10 is about teaching skills, which helps missionaries become the best teachers that they can possibly be. This will help me teach with the scriptures and will power and authority, giving all the opportunity to accept this message about the true church of Jesus Christ. Chapter 6 is on Christlike Attributes and is my favorite chapter right now. It teaches about how to be more Christlike and serve our fellow men. It will help me be the best person I can be, not only on my mission, but for the rest of my life on this earth, and have the peace that comes through living this Gospel.

Thank you for your support, prayers, emails, letters, and everything else that you give me.

I love y'all and I'll talk to ya next week,
Elder Carson Baker
