P-day Galore

So this past week was really weird with schedules and stuff, so here we go.

P-day/Halloween: After i sent out emails last week, we headed over to the house of a member in the Mission Presidency. It was a house that reminded me of Cameron Crest Farms. But everyone there (members of our zone that could make it) brought food and had a lot of fun. After and around the time of Dinner we played a game of Pool, played Phase 10, and talked a lot and had fun. After dinner was the time where we were allowed to watch G rated movies. Everyone there wanted to watch Aladdin, but it wasn’t in the house and would’ve cost money to watch, so we watched Tarzan, a movie that was very reminiscent of a play I saw about a month before i left for my mission. Then we watched a couple minutes of Fantasia 2000. The whole day and night was very weird and relaxing, because it was weird just sitting around not doing anything gospel related, i mean weird. Also just watching a movie was weird. But it’s all good.

Questionnaire: So last Tuesday was a cool thing. We were invited to come to a combined youth activity for one of the wards and it was me and my companion answering questions about missions that all of youth has put together. It was fun answering questions and they were pretty well structured as well. And also along with this is the Ward Mission Days, this one was for the ward that we had the activity with and it was very fun to go around, meet people, and teach some less actives!

Ray: So we have been very blessed with another super prepared investigator. He is from Mexico and is going to School at the I. He is living with his Brother, who is a member, and is very receptive. He apparently has been pushed and pressured to get baptized and been turned off by other Elders, so we're taking it slow. Otherwise he is doing very well, he is enjoying school and the lessons, and now all we have to do is decide whether or not they are going to stay in the YSA ward to get girls, or go to the Spanish ward to have it in Spanish (if they go to the YSA ward we lose them to the campus sisters).

Busiest Sunday of my mission: So this Sunday was a ward council day. From our stake missionary correlation meeting at 6:45 in the morning, followed by a ward council at 7:30 followed by one at 9:30, the two at 11 (so we went on splits with the respective ward mission leaders), then followed by some tracting, then going to a meeting for sacrament meeting where our investigators were sick and going to a friends ward that day, then we had a baptismal interview, followed by dinner, a lesson, and another lesson. Needless to say it was a very very fun and interesting day. Business here on the mission is a wonderful thing to have, and we are very busy every day of the week.

Personal Study:  Book of Mormon reading has been very amazing this week, with it being in 3rd Nephi and the ministry of Christ. Two scriptures stood out to me.

3rd Nephi 20:40 And then shall they say: How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings unto them, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings unto them of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion: Thy God reigneth!

Which is from Isaiah 52. I studied this one and looked at all of the cross references and then found this scirpture a few minutes later.

3rd Nephi 23:1 And now, behold, I say unto you, that ye ought to search these things. Yea, a commandment I give unto you that ye search these things diligently; for great are the words of Isaiah.

2 For surely he spake as touching all things concerning my people which are of the house of Israel; therefore it must needs be that he must speak also to the Gentiles.

3 And all things that he spake have been and shall be, even according to the words which he spake.

Over the course of my mission so far, even though it hasn't been very long, i have loved Isaiah (Jesus the Christ and the Spirit have helped a lot with that) and all of the small prophecies found therein. And now i know it’s a commandment.

I hope this letter has been informative this week and that everyone back home is having fun with the world crashing down.
If you have any questions, like always, ask away.
Love y'all so much,
Elder Carson Baker
