Stake Conference

Hello,
It was a pretty eventful week and quite a lot happened. I was able to go on two exchanges, got to learn more about proselyting with a phone, and learned a lot about the Doctrine of Christ/Our Missionary Purpose.

President Monson: While on my first exchange this week we got the news that President Monson has passed away. I know that he was a Prophet of God and that there will be a new Prophet called, one who has been prepared and polished for the mantle of the Prophet. Joseph Smith was a prophet and since his life, the keys of the Gospel have been passed down and are in use today to lead and guide the work of the Lord.

Stake Conference: This last Saturday and Sunday was Stake Conference here in the Lincoln Stake and Elder Alder of the Seventy was the visiting authority. We were surprised to receive an invitation to a large dinner right before the adult session so we got to hear some words from him there, but surprisingly got to sit at the same table as our Mission President President Nelson and his wife. The next morning for the General Session was fantastic. One of the lines that stood out from the Stake Young Women's president who spoke was 'fall in love with hard'. Learn to love the hard things in life, because they are the experiences that help us grow and repent if we face them well. Elder Alder bore his testimony of the Restoration and of Living Prophets on the earth. His talk wasn't very complex but his testimony of the Savior was firm. I too know that Christ lives and leads His church through a prophet on the earth today.

Miracles: We had many miracles, some in referrals, others in lessons. We received a referral for a family of 8, two parents and 6 kids, are 4 of them have already shown interest in being baptized. We contacted a different referral and she is a non-member that has been going to church on and off for quite some time and wants to take the missionary lessons again. The other was with a less active couple that the husband recently had an Alma the younger experience. We went over yesterday for a lesson, being accompanied by the bishop of the ward, and he shared his testimony that God lives and shared what he has learned from his three weeks studying the gospel through the Book of Mormon and through talks. One of the major things that stood out to him that is a promise throughout all of scripture, if you keep the commandments of God, you will prosper.

I'm thankful that I get to be serving at this time and that I will be able to work hard up until the very end. Thanks for everything y'all do.
Love ya,
Elder Baker
