This past week was amazing, Christmas and other miracles in the work.
Olivas: We started teach Izzy Olivas' parents and it was amazing. They have seen the Gospel change their son and want to find truth. They felt the spirit very strongly and for our second lesson, we went to the visitor's center and watched the Restoration. Sis. Olivas felt the spirit very very powerfully during the first vision and both accepted an invitation to be baptized. They then came to church this past Sunday and it was amazing! More on them later, but they were ready for the Gospel because of the conversion of their son, and now they can find out for themselves that the Church is true. It's amazing.
Christmas Eve/Christmas: We had two days, where just like last year, we weren't supposed to go proselyting but to spend time with Families (Current Investigators and Member Families). Both Days we were able to give a priesthood blessing to someone in need, which just made each day better. We had lots of food, played lots of games (including Wackee Six, Pit, Fruit Basket, Ping Pong, the Dice game with some variation), and the sacrament meetings were fantastic. We got to sing in the Lincoln 2nd ward choir for the song Oh Holy Night. We got to share many Christmas messages on the importance of Christ's birth and how monumental that was. He came to Earth, Atoned for us, and then now Leads His Church through a prophet on the earth today. It was the promised time of all the old testament and a grand portion of the Book of Mormon. I know that He was born and that He lives today. Skyping my family was fantastic too. From that and throughout Christmas Day as we met with families, all the extremely happy families Trust in the Lord. Merry Christmas to everyone and have a wonderful New Year!!!!
Zone Conference: We had our Christmas Zone Conference this past Wednesday. The first portion was all of the training and the second was fun and games. One of the things to share was a similar concept that both President and Sister Hall taught about. It was about giving all of us and getting much more in return. No matter how many times before we have not given our all, if we give it all now, at whatever time it is, we can receive the same reward. But it is hard to give our all, so we should constantly strive to give it and start today, not procrastinating the day of our change, our repentance. The games, which were district v district were great. We won 3rd place between all of the districts on the south side of the mission and got a huge Hershey's Kiss. Fun stuff. Also, we had a 2 hour session of watching a training video about using Smartphones in missionary work. The Lord trusts missionaries and so do the brethren. It is going to be a learning experience, but it will be very useful and effective. And a plus for my mom, It'll be easier to take more pictures, haha.
It was a great week. Trying not try drown everyone out with a huge email for this week. Believe in Christ and I hope that yall had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Love,
Elder Baker
