Elder Schwieger: In my mom's email to me last week, she said that there was an Elder Schwieger entering the mtc these work. We had grown up in the same ward in Kennesaw together. I read the email on friday, so I was planning to look for this elder and try to find him in the next week. Then comes Sunday. Testimony meeting starts and one of the first people to get up is an Elder Schwieger who says he's from atlanta, georgia. Turns out he's in my zone/branch so ive seen and talked to him a little bit this week. Pretty funny how these things turn out.
Video night: Sunday night around 8:00 is video night here at the MTC. My first week we watched the Testaments, and this past Sunday we watched the movie How Rare a Possesion: the story of Parly P. Pratt's finding of the Book of Mormon and the story of Vincent Fransesca (i think). Its in an old ensign but the movie was amazing. Parly P. Pratt found and read the Book of Mormon in one full day, never stopping, and knew that it was true. Vincent found the Book of Mormon with the cover scorched, and the title pages empty, he read it, prayed about it, recieved testament of its truthfulness, and went on preaching it to his congregation. It wasnt until 20 years later or so when he found out the origin of the book.
Elder Rogers: So i dont know how i found out or we either of us talked about it, but i found out that Elder Rogers, who is in my district, is a huggggee nerd just like me. He watched Naruto, played Yugioh, and also did a lot of other nerdy stuff. So in some of the free time we reminisced about Naruto and yugioh and we come to find out that our afternoon Teacher Hermano Trejo (same one as below) also has watched Naruto and is a nerd in his own right. For his birthday, Elder Rogers drew a picture of Kakashi in a party hat, which was one of the three pictures he took of the occasion.
Devotional with an Apostle: On Tuesday we watched a live devotional from provo that was given from Elder D. Todd Christofferson. He talked about preacghing repentance, faith in Christ, and being trusted and how that is better than being loved. If you want, i can send some more detailed notes, but i'm pretty sure that you can somehow watch the talk. It was just amazing to hear from an Apostle talking to me about me, although i guess its not as cool as the experience my dad and little brother had in Louisiana. We get to hear from another apostle on sunday night and next tuesday, but we don't find out who's speaking until the beginning of the devotional.
Birthdays: We had two birthdays in our district this week. Hermana Sessions, and our pretty cool afternoon teacher Hermano Trejo. Hermana Sessions is a convert of a couple years and her family and boyfriend's mom apparently likes to send a lot of stuff. the day of her birthday she recieved some treats, along with a huge tiered krispy kreme assortment. The rest of her presents came the day after, party hats, a balloon, a cake, and other stuff. Since it was no longer her birthday and it was Hermano Trejo's, we used it to throw him a little party. It was pretty fun, he's also our favorite teacher.
That's pretty much been my week. It was a bit of a crazy one, so the next email might not be as many words. Spanish is coming along really well and im still not homesick or anything. Email me any questions that you got.
Ill be on a little later today to send out pitcures, along with answering another personal email or two, so be prepared.
Les amo
P.S. the spell check is for spanish, so if i didnt spell anything right, not my fault.
