CCM is Good

Hola peoples,

So this is the start of my mission mass emails per week. If you´re reading this off the blog or facebook, be sure to actually email me. For the next 5 weeks i can email for an hour once a week on Friday. Then after that for the rest of the two years it will be an hour on Monday. So to start it off.

Flight: so i said goodbye at the airport without any tears or anything like that and got on the plan. Have to say, it was one of the most boring flights i´ve ever had. Because i´m a missionary and didn't know anyone else on the plane, other than speaking to the others for part of the time, i didnt watch any movies, listen to any music, or play any games, but other than that it wasn't too bad. The main person i talked to on the plane was an Elder Block, who was from Wichita St. Kansas, who was 6´4 and sharing the same discomfort as I was. The other interesting fact about the plane was that there were 5 Amish people on board, as far as a could discern.

First 2 days: The first day was constant class after class of introduction, teaching, and welcome classes with information about the CCM, or Mexico City MTC. That day we met one of our two teaching for my stint here, Hermano Osorio. He´s from here and went on a mission to Monterrey West a couple of years ago. The night of the first day we had a little bit of a problem. My original form said i was part of a trio, and that I was staying in a house, when most of the elders stay in dorm like things. So when i get there that night, i find my other two in my trio and someone else i don´t know, butttt the house is full of native speakers and there are no open beds. So we go to reception and for that night we are moved to a temporary house (my quartet at the moment consists of Elder Braswell, Johnson, and Marchant). The next morning we are moved to the dorms, which were much newer and nicer so it worked out in the end. The second day´s highlight was that we taught our first ´´investigator´´ (was actually a teacher acting as an investigator from his mission). The investigator was Ricardo and the Teacher was Hermano Trejo, who served in Guatemala, he is younger and we have all become friends with them. That lesson was mostly in Spanish and it was pretty okay, but only that. From then on we have taught him each day a lesson, except for Sunday, until yesterday. Tomorrow we are going to start teaching two different people.

Things,
Blessing: So there was an Elder that my companion knew a little beforehand and had talked to on the plane that was counting down the days til he got home. While he was here in the first week because of his stress he started to get very very sick and because of that was sent home honorably after the first week. He was devastated to leave after just one week. We went to give him a blessing the night before he left and it was amazing, he asked my companion to give it and it was the first time i had truly seen the spirit very really speaking out of a person´s mouth. That was pretty amazing, and its amazing how strong the spirit at the CCM is.

Bass:So this is something that happened last night. As you all know i play the bass and by the time of almost a week and a half my quartet and district knows it. So one of the other missionaries in our dorm (3 rooms per dorm) is talking to Elder Braswell and Elder Marchant and says: right before i left, i went to this orchestra concert and had this thought: ´´why is the bass (pronounced like the fish) even an instrument´´. He did not know i played. But through this funny experience i found that the other elder who was his companion was going to be a music major for vocal performance or music education so we were able to talk about classical, the first time for me since i arrived that the CCM.

Quartet: The second day we went to the reception, before we moved to the dorms, and got some news. Elder Johnson is now going from the 6 week program to the 3 week program and leaving us. Later we find out that we are moving to the dorms and he´s back with us. He is companions with Elder Marchant, and I´m companions with Elder Braswell. Elder Marchant is from Nevada. Elder Johnson is 21 and is from Arizona. Elder Braswell, my companion is from Chandler, AZ and is a wrestler. He is almost the exact opposite in personality as i am, So he is a big extrovert.

District: 12 people, 10 elders, 2 hermanas, already know each other really well and are great friends.

Devotionals: So the two major devotionals that have happened in the past week are one from the CCM President and the other from Elder Reyes, a seventy. The one from the CCM president was on specific prayers as found in Genesis 24, which was amazing. These do happen and it is something i am glad I have learned about. The other devotional was about the stripling warriors. He talked about the fact that they were obedient to all the commandments they were given and they were blessed immensely. For all you non Mormons, the story in in the Book of Mormon in spots of Alma 54 to 58 i think. They were 2060 young men who didn't know how to fight, and because of their faith and obedience they fought as strong as any army, not a single one died, and the 10% that fainted from blood loss also survived. The devotional was amazing.

Oh and we went to the Mexico City temple today and it was amazing!!!!! Now I am quickly writing all this down and finishing off

Adios peoples,
Elder Bakerrrrr

P.S. Email me, please, and also if you have questions ask me them, makes these things interesting.
