Iceburg is Fun

Everybody who this letter concerns,
Its not iceburg yet, just been a little windy. The area here is great and there is a lot of member support, so much so that every RM at BYUI wants to go on splits with us.

Service: Hemming, Do
This week we served two different people, each for quite along time. The first was a Bro. Hemming. He is an older man in one of the wards who needed a old shed roof take off. We took off the nails of the metal sheets, but most of the them had a rubber guard, still on them, that made it take a lot longer. That, along with having to scale and stay up the shed to get to the top, made my calves and feet very very very sore. It was a very good workout to say the least.

After we finished we were leaving and he came out with three packets of hamburger and a thing of rib-eye. I forgot to mention that he has cows, for food purposes. We are going to get some know how on how to cook the steak and have it on one of our stay in days like halloween or something. The second big service project we rendered was for a Bro. Do, a nonmember Vietnamese man. We came to talk to him, but he was scraping paint, so we joined him. During the almost three hours that we painted we got to know him really well, and also talked about the priesthood and adam and eve. It was realy awesome and for both of these projects, it was only towards the end that i actually got really good at what we were doing. Oh well.

Elsa: Elsa Lopez is a contact that we got from the Sisters working in the YSA wards. She is a older lady living in a Retirementish/Old Folk health homish thing. we get there and get to know her very well. She is from D.F. in Mexico and she speaks with a lot of slang and with a lot of slurring. She likes to talk and apparently hasnt spoken to a spanish speaker for a couple of days because she told us most of her life story over the course of two and a half hours. This wasnt that bad but we declined the offer of seats at the beginning of the conversation so it was pretty fun getting some more work on my legs, but with endurance instead of strength. When we went to a training meeting that the mission office we were able to find a entire collection of El Libro de Mormon on Cd's. She cant see anymore so it was lucky that we got the last copies of them in the mission pretty much, as far as we know.

Gibbs: The Gibbs are a family that moved in a couple of months ago. They are nonmembers that are from Mexico, Through Arizona for many years, and now into Rexburg. This past weekend their niece was baptized and their whole family was there for it. They were really moved and it turns out that a couple of years early there was a family tragedy on the same date, so now there is a good memory to go with it. Last night we stopped by and taught part of the restoration. It was the first time i have taught it to someone who i knew and cared about a lot, and it was amazing, nerve racking, and wonderfully great.

Laser Tag: My companion is the District Leader and he likes the idea of having interesting and fun P-Day activities. Last week we went to a Laser Tag place in town. For about four games it only took about 3 dollars. It was most of our District, the Zone Leaders, and one other companionship from another district in the Zone. Out of the Four Games, i was on the leaderboard each time, but was never number one. I was 2,2,3,2. Oh well. This week we are playing human hungry hungry hippos and one of these next weeks were are going to be making ties.

Language is going well, my Duplex is nice, and im not freaking out emotionally so thats all good.
Email me any questions and ill see you all next week.

Thank ya and love ya,
Elder Baker

Ill get pictures here eventually, and ill take a couple during the week.
