Thanksgiving

Everyone,
Happy Thanksgiving! It was a great week out here in Idaho, except for the fact that most of our appointments cancelled because people were out of town. Glad that everyone had a good thanksgiving and now that the Christmas season is upon us, that everyone continues to have a ton of fun. I'll have more to write about next week.

#LightTheWorld: Starting last Friday Light the World is up. This is a Christmas Initiative, the same theme as last year, put up by the Church for all. There is a starter video introducing the theme, and then for each day from the 1st of December to the 25th there is an individual theme of how to follow the example of Jesus Christ through service and have joy. It's a simple way to focus on Jesus Christ during this Christmas season by following His Light, and to share that light with others as we serve them. Here is a link to the video, mormon.org, along with the 1st day and it's theme. I invite all to do this. I did it last year and it was so much fun! It's amazing to feel the spirit as you follow the spirit and serve God and our fellow man. If you have any questions, shoot me an email.

Thanksgiving: We ate a lot of food this past week. We started off Thanksgiving day by going to the dinner/breakfast of one of our ward mission leaders at 11:00. Then for our dinner/lunch at 1:00, we ate dinner with one of our relief society presidents and her family, and finally for dinner/dinner at 3:00, we spent a couple of hours with one of our Bishop's family. By the time we got to the 3:00 dinner, I had already eaten so much food that by 3:00 I couldn't eat any more. Last year we only had 2 dinners, one for breakfast and one for dinner, but this year we had 3, plus a couple of other homes to stop in for dessert. It was a ton of food but a ton of fun. It was just eating way too much food and trying to stay awake during the day.

MLC: The day after Thanksgiving we had a meeting with the Mission Leader Council, and one thing from that meeting that I felt I should share today. We were talking about the New Preach My Gospel that will eventually come out, but some remarks of one of the missionaries from District 3, a set of training videos filmed for missionaries of other missionaries, said something about having purpose. It is the same thing for all people, if we focus our lives on the Doctrine of Jesus Christ and then on other people, we will find joy and have fulfillment and peace. That is when we will exercise Faith in Jesus Christ and eventually receive all of the blessings of the gospel that our Heavenly Father has in store for us. That's why light the world is so great!

It's been a weird but a fun week. This next week is the last full week before the week of transfers, so by next p-day I'll be able to know what will happen. It's been a great time so far in this area and I'll have more stories to share this next Monday, when all of the people that we're teaching get back in town :)

#LightTheWorld

Love,
Elder Bake
