Just a tad sore

Hello Everyone,
This was an interesting week full of surprises, and the day of most surprises was Saturday. All in all though, i felt like I was writing yesterday, so here's my week.

Saturday: I was on exchanges with Elder Heileson for this day, but it was a shocker. Right as I was finishing my morning prayer, Elder Heileson looked outside and made a surprised sound. I guessed it right as I got up and looked out the window, it was snow. And it wasn't just a normal thing of now in October, it was thick heavy 5-7 inches of snow. I'm sad to say that a lot of my bad memories from last winter came back to me, but I know i'll survive. Right after we got ready and planned for a little bit we went to this Former Investigator, Lalo, to help him move. He's ready but his wife is not, so he dropped us a while back because he didn't want to commit and create issues in his family. We get to his house at 9:00 and we finish helping him move at 5:30, the longest move that I have ever done on my mission. From there we read about 20 minutes in the scriptures after changing, went to dinner, and taught Antolin for about 30 minutes before having to finish for the day. But with Lalo, we did get to talk about General Conference, because President Uchtdorf is his favorite speaker :).

Hilda: So we had a church tour with our investigator Hilda this past Friday. She loved all of it and when we were talking about the leadership in the church, local and general, and about how none are paid and all are called by revelation, it made a lot fo sense to her. And finally the spirit was so strong when we were in the chapel talking about the sacrament. It felt so good that her 8 year old daughter just kept talking about how she wanted to come back. Our other main investigator family for the spanish side, the De Leones, all came to church this past Sunday and really enjoyed it. Things are looking up.

The Wards: We had a lot of good thigns happen in this past week. We met with one of our bishops and ward mission leaders and talked about the direction that the ward needed to go in and how to implement the oval chart to fulfill the area plan. That along with us giving talks in our other ward on Sunday was really fun. Member missionary work needed to be cahnged in the eyes of the people here, and the simplest thing is to reach out and love and serve your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. Be honest, be a friend, you don't have to go to each person in your neighborhood and invite them to church and offer a Book of Mormon. It should be a very natural thing, because taking the name of Christ upon ourselves is just who we are, members of His Church. We also had a fun lesson in the Deacons quorum that brought me back to the good old days being 12&13. Fun stuff.

Studies/Extra Stuff: So one major things from studies was about Faith, and the faith of the people at the time of King Benjamin in the Book of Mormon. I'll share two scriptures and bold/highlight the parts that stood out to me.
They had faith to know if it were expedient in Christ, they could do all things.
They believed that Christ would come so much, that it was like He already had (we need that kinda Faith).
Mosiah 5:3 And we, ourselves, also, through the infinite goodness of God, and the manifestations of his Spirit, have great views of that which is to come; and were it expedient, we could prophesy of all things.
3:13 And the Lord God hath sent his holy prophets among all the children of men, to declare these things to every kindred, nation, and tongue, that thereby whosoever should believe that Christ should come, the same might receive remission of their sins, and rejoice with exceedingly great joy, even as though he had already come among them.

Pictures: 2 this week

Hope yall have an amazing week. Keep firm in the Faith.
Love,
Elder Baker

  1. Love your letters from Aunt Fern, your Grandma's sister. It didn't snow in Rigby, yet.
