Idaho Day

Hey Y'all,
This past week was pretty exciting and really really awesome. One of the coolest things was that Saturday was Idaho Day!!!!!! Here you go!

P-day: So last P-day after emailing and stuffs, we went over the the Idaho Museum. The exhibit was about Rome, which was pretty cool and really nostalgic. The cool thing about it was it was just a tiny museum with a couple of fun cool things, and things that I didn't know before. I got to try on a suit (not a missionary one), got to break down a wall, and I also got to go through an exhibit on Idaho History (pictures actually included this week). After that we kinda just chilled and studied a little bit until our dinner that night. This week, because it is the birthday of one of the sisters in the district, we are going bowling! So it should be pretty fun.

Nacho: We had another wonderful lesson with Nacho this week. Because it took us a while to get there, we didn't have too much time to teach before we went back for the night. One of the things that we talked about his desire to read the Book of Mormon and to learn the truth of it for himself. We then read with him the 11th chapter of 3rd Nephi. It is the chapter of the Book of Mormon where the resurrected Christ comes and ministers among the people in the Americas. Th e spirit was powerfully there as we taught and he admitted that he has a weird desire to read the Book of Mormon, more so than other books. His heart is opening and hopefully everything will go well, despite his work schedule getting prolonged in these upcoming weeks.

Osgood: So this past Thursday we went out with the Elders Quorum President from the ward out in Osgood. He is a recent convert of about 4 years, and is very very fired up to do missionary work. We visited 4 families of Spanish investigators, even though he didn't speak too much Spanish, and boldly told them that we were going to come back and teach them, get them to stop drinking and smoking, and that one of the families would be sealed in the temple. We now have 4 solid appointments with some new investigators this next week, which is awesome. One of the coolest thing is how seriously he takes the work and how he works for the revelation. That is something that I continually try to get better at, understanding the promptings of the Holy Spirit. The work is picking up here because the leaders are getting the vision of the work, which is just going to continually bring more blessings.

Idaho Day: For the wonderful day of Idaho day, it started of with helping the sisters in our district move from 9-11:30. Then after planning quickly we went out to lunch with our Zone leader and Elder Riley, then had to quickly study and finish progress records, followed up by an appointment at 2, 3, 4, and then a branch party at 5. The branch party was because it was Idaho Day. There were trivia questions, a jeopardy game, and potatoes. And the desert was Reed's dairy Huckleberry Ice Cream. Reed's dairy is a wonderful place here in Idaho Falls, which has some of the best Ice Cream known to man, along with famous Chocolate Milk. My team won for the Jeopardy game, and because I answered the trivia sheet, I got a Idaho Potato lapel pin! And I also learned a lot about Idaho that I never thought I would have. A lot of the members of the branch enjoyed the potatoes and the fun of the night. Sadly, even though we invited tons of people, only a less active family showed up (but that is still awesome!).

Sunday: Sunday was a very busy day, along with it being fast Sunday. It started with a stake missionary correlation for one of the stakes we cover at 6:30 AM, followed by the one for the other state at 8:00 AM, followed by attending one of our wards at 9:00 AM, then we had branch coucil at 11:30 AM, then the sacrament meeting for the  branch at 1:00, followed by some lessons, two correlation meetings, a devotional at the VC, and another couple of lessons that we had later that night. We also had dinner with the branch president and his wife, and they are amazing. They have a lot of cool stories to tell. This Sunday was great, and the spirit was very strong. One of the things that I can testify of is that fasting and prayer brings promised blessings and that God is in control of his work.

Studies: One of the things that I have learned on the mission and that I read and studied more about is going through trails, going through hard things in life. If you go through it with patience and with faith, cheerfully working, then the Lord will you deliver you. It may not be immediate, but that relief will come. Another talk that goes really well with this topic is one from Elder David A. Bednar, an apostle, that was given in the 2014 April General Conference, Bear up their Burdens with Ease. https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/04/bear-up-their-burdens-with-ease?lang=eng
This is of the people of Alma (the elder) when they are in bondage to Amulon, one of the wicked priests of king Noah. This is what they did, and the result that come from it. It wasn't relief at once, but the freedom came, by the blessing of God.

Study the whole chapter, it's a great one. Also chapter 23 of Mosiah.
hope everyone had a great week, and I pray that this next one will be great as well.
Thanks for all of the love and support, and for the prayers that are given. They work wonders. Email me any questions you have, because answering them is one of my favorite activities.

Love,
Elder Carson Maurice Baker
