Training! v2

This week was the start of training! It's a good one!
Sorry for the short email this week, I guess I'll give your eyes a rest for a little bit.

Whitewash Wednesday: So one of the craziest days that I've had in a while happened this past Wednesday. After waking up and packing the rest of my items for the transfer train and stuff like that, we headed out to the transfer site.

After greeting and seeing all of the missionaries, the train arrived (and by train, it's just a large car and a trailer attached to it to transport all of the stuff) and we loaded our stuff inside. There weren't many people on the train, because Rexburg is a quite place. There were only 3 of us in the large car. Everyone else rode in one of the other mission cars, and all of the sisters road with President and Sister Nelson. After stopping off in Rigby, and picking up a couple more sets of missionaries, we headed down to Idaho Falls. It was there that I met my new companion Elder Velarde. Right after we met, we received our planners, and headed home. Because neither of us have a GPS, our Zone Leader had to show us how to get there, but now we know, so no worries. Then we quickly went to Walmart to get food, ate at Panda Express, and went out working. We had to find a lot of directions, but were able to meet with two of our 4 mission leaders and already have work to do. It is exciting to be working right away and to know that the Lord will bless us for our labor.

Elder Velarde: Elder Velarde is my new companion. He is from Ogden, Utah, but was born in Sonorra Mexico. He is a little bit older than me, but he is very smart and spiritual. We get along very well and it is cool to train a new missionary. And just to make my Dad happy, he studied at USU before coming out on a mission!

The Branch: My area is now covering three English wards in something called the eagle rock stake and covering the Oakland Valley Spanish Branch. There is a companionship of Sisters also working in the branch with us, which means that the Investigators for the branch can be taught by either, whichever is best for them and their growth and learning in the Gospel. After meeting with the relief society president and the branch president, it was made known that there isn't anyone to conduct the music on Sunday's. Sooooo, I am the fill-in Music Chorister for the sacrament meeting. This past Sunday we didn't know anyone who was there, but the lessons that day were great. It was all about growing our testimony, the Holy Ghost, and about how we can choose happiness and joy in this life.

Study: Something that stood out for me was a story from the end of the book of Omni, which is something that I thought was really weird. Sometimes the Lord leads us, brings us to a place, but we don't want to be there. We look back and want to be back where we were before. Just like Lot's wife, we look back at where we came from, and it leads to our destruction. And just like Amaleki, you see brothers, friends, family, who go back into the World that is dangerous and disastrous, and sinful. Gladly, we have the gospel and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Think about what these scriptures mean to you. They were put here for a reason, and are an Hundred Part of what could have been on these records. Apply the scriptures, search them, and you will have joy.

27 And now I would speak somewhat concerning a certain number who went up into the wilderness to return to the land of Nephi; for there was a large number who were desirous to possess the land of their inheritance.

28 Wherefore, they went up into the wilderness. And their leader being a strong and mighty man, and a stiffnecked man, wherefore he caused a contention among them; and they were all slain, save fifty, in the wilderness, and they returned again to the land of Zarahemla.

29 And it came to pass that they also took others to a considerable number, and took their journey again into the wilderness.

30 And I, Amaleki, had a brother, who also went with them; and I have not since known concerning them.
